Materials is one of the three resources, with health and ammo.

Materials are the resource the Struction Console and the Hammerench spend. You pay materials to put up buildings, to repair them and to upgrade them.

Carrying materials

  • You can carry up to 200 materials, and you start every life full.
  • Having the Mender in your loadout halves that to 100, whether or not it is in your hand.
  • Materials only show and only matter while your loadout has a Struction Console or a Hammerench in it.

Getting materials

  • Ammo pickups refill materials by the same share they refill ammo: a small pack gives 25% of your maximum (50 materials), a medium one 50% and a large one 100%. A pack is worth picking up for materials alone, even when your guns are full.
  • Your own team's spawn room keeps your materials full while you stand in it, and you respawn with a full supply.
  • The Dispenser does not give materials.
Tip: A builder low on materials should grab an ammo pack before a teammate whose guns are already full.

What things cost

Key Building Materials
1 Sentry 150
2 Dispenser 100
3 Teleporter entrance 50
4 Teleporter exit 50

Picking up one of your own buildings and placing it again costs nothing.

Repairing

Hitting a damaged friendly building with the Hammerench repairs up to 35 health per hit, at 1 material per 3 health, so a full repair hit costs about 12 materials. Speeding up a building that is still going up is free.

Upgrading

Hitting a friendly building at full health puts up to 25 materials per hit into its upgrade bar. At 200 it goes up a level, to a maximum of level 3. See Struction Console#Repairing and upgrading.

On the HUD

While your loadout spends materials, the bottom of the screen shows the materials icon and how many you are carrying, beside your health and ammo readouts.
