Spiral Tower
Where Toolbar, shape tools
Shortcut Wheel: sides; Ctrl+wheel: step height; Ctrl+Shift+wheel: wall thickness
Works on A round tower with a spiral staircase and floors inside
Settings Tool Properties

The Spiral Tower tool builds a whole climbable tower in one drag: a round wall (the shell), a spiral staircase whose treads sit flush against the inside of it, and solid floor slabs that are open only over the walkway. The underside of each slab steps with the stairs, so you clear it on the way up, and the stairwell is the way onto the platform at the top.

Drawing a tower

  1. Pick Spiral Tower on the toolbar.
  2. Press and drag to set the tower's footprint.
  3. Let go and drag up for its height. Click to finish.

While drawing:

  • Scroll wheel: the number of sides.
  • Ctrl+Scroll wheel: the step height.
  • Ctrl+Shift+Scroll wheel: the wall thickness.

Settings

Setting Type Default What it does
Sides 3 to 64 16 Shell. Wall facets per full turn. Treads and floor slabs are cut on the same divisions, so this is the one number the whole tower lines up with.
Wall Thickness Meters 0.5 Shell. 0 builds the staircase and its floors with no wall.
Step Height Meters 0.4 Stairs. Keep under the player's step height (0.457) or the stairs cannot be climbed.
Facets per Step 1 to 16 1 Stairs. How many wall facets each tread spans. Raise it for fewer, deeper steps per turn. Capped at a quarter of Sides.
Walkway Width Meters 1.5 Stairs. How deep the treads are, measured inward from the shell. At or past the inner radius the treads reach the middle and the spiral becomes a solid ramp.
Center Post Check box Off Stairs. Fill the shaft the walkway leaves with a solid column.
Direction List Counter-clockwise Stairs. Counter-clockwise or Clockwise, seen from above.
Floor Thickness Meters 0.25 Floors. How thick each slab is.
Top Platform Check box On Floors. A slab at the top of the climb, flush with the last tread.
Landing Every N Revs 0 to 16 0 Floors. A landing every this many full turns. 0 builds none.
Head Clearance Meters 2.0 Floors. The headroom a climber needs under a slab; this sizes the stairwell opening. A standing player is 1.829 m tall.
Door Width (facets) 0 to 16 0 Doorway. A doorway at the foot of the stairs, this many facets wide. 0 builds none.
Door Height Meters 2.5 Doorway. How tall the doorway is.
Alignment List Align to surface Brush. Align to surface, or always the XY, XZ or YZ plane.
Collision Type, Layers, Mask STATIC, 1, 1 Brush. See Box.
