The Sphere tool draws round brushes: domes, boulders, tanks, decorations.
Drawing a sphere
- Pick Sphere on the toolbar.
- Press and drag out the sphere's footprint on a surface or in empty space.
- Let go and move the mouse to set its height, then click.
The sphere fills the box you draw. Unlike the other shape tools, it always draws on the world grid, even on a slanted face.
Note: A sphere cannot be used in CSG: Subtract Brush refuses spheres, as cutter or as target.
Settings
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Segments | Number, 3 or more | 32 | How many sides the sphere has round its middle. More is rounder and heavier. |
| Rings | Number, 2 or more | 16 | How many bands it has from top to bottom. |
| Collision Type | List | STATIC | STATIC for a solid, still brush; NONE for no collision. See Box. |
| Collision Layers / Collision Mask | Numbers | 1 | Leave at 1. |
| Alignment | List | Align to surface | Align to surface, or always the XY, XZ or YZ plane. |
| Match Active Brush | Check box | On | In empty space, copy elevation and height from the selected brush. |
| Correct UVs on Extrude | Check box | On | Re-lay side wall textures when a face is extruded, so they do not stretch. |
| Default Brush Elevation / Height | Meters | 0 / 1 | Orthogonal Viewport. Starting depth and depth for a sphere drawn in a 2D view over empty space. |
Tip: Keep segment and ring counts low for large background shapes; a 32 by 16 sphere is already a lot of faces for collision and lighting.
