Spawn Point
Made with Functional > Spawn Point
What it is A place where players of a team appear
In the game Yes, it is exported with the map

A spawn point is a place where a player appears when they join and every time they respawn. Each belongs to a team. By default a player spawns at a random spawn point of their team; a gamemode script can choose differently (see Teams and spawning).

Placing one

  1. Choose Functional > Spawn Point.
  2. Click where it should go, on the floor.
  3. Set its Team in the inspector.
  4. Turn it with the Rotate tool to face the way players should look when they appear.

The game drops a spawning player's feet onto the floor under the spawn point, so place spawns on the floor, not inside it.

Warning: A team with no spawn points spawns at the world origin. Give every team you use at least one, and preferably several.

Inspector

Setting Type Default What it does
Point Name Text empty A label shown above it in the editor. Empty shows Team N Spawn.
Team Number 1 The team that spawns here. The first team is 1.
Team Differs Per Side Check box On A Mirror Node's copy of this spawn belongs to the other team. Untick it for a spawn both sides share, or one that belongs to the same team on both halves.

The player figure

Every spawn point shows a player standing on it, facing the way the spawn faces, inside the player's collision hull: 0.813 m across and 1.829 m tall, with a faint ring at 0.914 m, the height a ducking player fits under. Use it to judge doorways, ceilings and cover while you block out. The figure is the editor's alone; it is never exported. View > Show Player Figures hides them all.
