The Vertex Color Brush paints color onto the vertices (corners) of brushes. The color blends smoothly across each face between its corners, so you can darken the base of a wall, add grime to a corner, or tint part of a surface without a new material.

Using it

  1. Select the brushes to paint.
  2. Pick Vertex Color Brush and choose a Color.
  3. Click and drag over the surfaces. The brush's Radius and Strength decide how far and how strongly it paints.
  4. Shift+X picks up the color of the vertex nearest the brush.

Settings

Setting Type Default What it does
Component mask List None None paints anywhere under the brush. Vertex and Face limit it to the vertices or faces you have selected with the edit tools.
Color Color White The color to paint.
Radius 0 to 1 1.0 The size of the brush.
Strength 0 to 1 1.0 How much of the color each stroke lays down.
Pen Pressure Check box Off With a drawing tablet, press harder to paint more strongly.

Vertex color is kept when you subdivide or cut faces.
