The Material Brush paints the material selected in the Materials tab onto brushes by clicking and dragging over them. It is the quickest way to texture many faces: no need to select them first.
Using it
- Click a material in the Materials tab.
- Pick Material Brush.
- Click or drag over surfaces. With Individual faces on, each face you pass over is painted; off, every face of each brush you pass over.
- Shift+X picks up the settings of the face under the brush.
Each stroke is one undo step. It also paints path brushes.
Settings
Tick what a stroke should change; it can do several at once.
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual faces | Check box | Off | Paint only the faces you pass over. Off paints the whole brush. |
| Paint materials | Check box | On | Apply the selected material. |
| Erase materials | Check box | Off | Under Paint materials: remove the material instead, back to the default. |
| Paint color | Check box | Off | Paint the face colour chosen in Color (white by default). |
| Paint visibility | Check box | Off | Set faces visible or hidden, as Visible says. A hidden face is not drawn. |
| Paint UV | Check box | Off | Reset the face's texture placement (its UV transform) to the default. |
